“Pyrite Road”

custom piece for Cortney Matz Music

2021 album calendar

8” x 10” mixed medium on canvas

Available for collection January 2021

Each month is bringing new developments and opportunities!  It is such a pleasure to meet and interact with a wider audience. I have the privilege of being a contributing visual artist for the first song on the Cortney Matz Music 2021 album calendar, "Pyrite Road".  If you are like me and you are always looking for a gift that is unique and moving, the upcoming Cortney Matz 12-song music album "Mystery" is really something to appreciate.  Cortney Matz Music is based out of Los Angeles, California.  Learn more at: https://cortneymatz.com/.

This month, I was inspired to create a brand new collection called the Micro collection.  They are my tiniest paintings to date with tiny names to match.  Keep reading for an exclusive glimpse at: "droplet", "pebble", "coal dust", and more!  De-stigmatizing Autism has never been so adorable.

I am also learning a lot about other individuals on the Autism Spectrum; each with unique Autism experiences.  No two are the same, however, one principle holds true for all; each are completely unique and have a one-of-a-kind set of gifts to offer those around them no matter what the challenges may look like.

-Amanda

Destigmatizing Autism:

Many of you know my story and experience with Autism; for my family and me personally.  Every Autistic individual has unique individuality; from level 1 Autism (described in many circles as most "functioning") all the way to non-verbal Autism (abundant challenges often desiring intervention and treatment options) - each person is unique and special and has their own way of contributing to their families, friends, and society as a whole.

My mission is to destigmatize Autism by spreading this message through my art.  We want the world to see gifts and talents when they think "autism".  Let's uncover and spotlight the gifts of those on the Autism Spectrum to the benefit of society.  Take Bernard for instance.....

Colleagues and friends can always count on Bernard’s talent, kindness, and dedication.

Bernard Grant is an openly autistic professional writer and editor with a growing CV; not only an author of many award-winning chapbooks but also several print and online publications in Crab Orchard Review and The South Carolina Review among many others.  Bernard does not experience autism as a disability but as a "healthy variation of the human condition".  (To learn more, visit: http://www.bernardgrant.com/autists/ )

Bernard is an asset to the industry.  Colleagues readily confess that they can always count on Bernard's kindness, intelligence, insight, dedication, talent, curiosity, and perspective. A reader says of Bernard's writing:  "I feel like I want to be quiet and still and very alert when I read (Bernard's) stories".  (To learn more, visit: http://www.bernardgrant.com/other-writing/ )

Friends describe Bernard as "authentic".  One friend in particular describes Bernard as "earnest, (having a) unique perspective, incredibly kind, willing to engage with new ideas, non-defensive, intellectually curious, and curious about others".

Bernard is a college writing instructor, on the way to "Dr. Bernard Grant” - currently a PhD candidate in Creative Writing at the University of Cincinnati.

From a foundation of experience and originality, Bernard Grant offers editorial services to writers of many kinds.  If this inviting statement alone: "My Editorial Services Will Nourish Your Writerly Needs" on http://www.bernardgrant.com/writerly-nourishment/ does not make you wish that you had "writerly needs" simply in order to work with this talented professional named Bernard, little else will!

Bernard Grant says of Amanda Hebert Hughes - american artist: "Amanda's mission to destigmatize autism aligns with my goal to normalize autism in society.  Both autists, both artists, we along with many autists across the globe, are working to make society an easier, safer place for all autistic people to navigate.  I'm glad I found her art, which, though abstract, is mimetic of the logic of the autistic mind, and illuminates the individuality that is autism".
